Moving from Google Tasks and Calendar

Updated 11 October 2026

Coming from Google Tasks or Google Calendar? Here’s how to get going in Snod today, what works differently, and what doesn’t come across yet.

First, the honest part

Snod can’t bring your things across from Google by itself yet. There’s no import and no export, and no calendar link of any kind: no .ics files and no connection to Google Calendar. Signing in with Google only signs you in: it doesn’t give Snod your tasks or your calendar.

So moving means writing in what you still need. Snod makes that quick: one line each, with the date in the line. Bring only what’s still to come; what’s done can stay where it is.

Bring your tasks across

Open Google Tasks beside Snod (on a computer, Snod runs in Chrome or Edge at app.snod.app). For each task you still need, write one line in the quick-add bar at the top of Tasks and press Enter:

  • Renew passport @24oct #admin is due on 24 October, in a list called Admin. The first time you use a list’s name, Snod makes the list.
  • Book the MOT @fri !high is due on Friday, with high priority.
  • Return the library books tomorrow: plain words work too.

Chips under the bar show what Snod understood before you press Enter. Tasks has everything you can write in one line.

Bring your events across

In Calendar, the quick-add bar sits under the toolbar of the Planner, the Week and the Month. One line each again:

  • Dentist fri 9:30 is on Friday at 9:30.
  • Yoga every monday 6:30pm repeats every Monday.
  • Mum’s birthday 23 oct every year is all day on 23 October, every year.

A repeating event only needs writing once. Calendar has the rest of what one line understands.

What works differently

  • Everything is on your phone first. Snod works offline, and your changes sync when you’re back online. More in Your data and privacy.
  • Tasks and the calendar are together. A task with a due date shows in Calendar on its day, and a routine with a schedule shows at its time.
  • Tasks can be projects. A task can have steps and a priority, and the list can be sorted by priority or by due date.
  • Notes and routines live here too, with a Focus timer, and a home screen of tiles that shows them all at once.

Using both for a while

Nothing in Snod changes your Google account, so you can keep Google Calendar for calendars other people share with you and use Snod for your own plans. When something you need isn’t in Snod yet, What Snod doesn’t do yet says so plainly.
