Your data and privacy

Updated 10 October 2026

Your things live on your device first, so Snod works without a signal, and they sync to your account when there is one. They’re private to you, and yours to take away.

Offline first

Everything you do in Snod is saved on your device first. When there’s a connection, your changes go up to your account and your other devices’ changes come down, by themselves. No signal on the train? Carry on.

The Android app opens and works fully offline. In a browser, Snod works offline once it has opened there before. The very first time Snod opens on a device, it needs a connection once, to get your things.

The home screen’s ⋯ menu shows where things stand on its first line: All changes saved, Saving changes…, or Offline with how many changes are waiting. What each message means: Changes not syncing.

What happens with two devices?

Sign in with the same account on your phone and on a computer, and they stay in step: a change on one usually shows on the other within seconds. If two devices change the same thing, the change that reaches your account last wins. Changes to different details are both kept, so a new title on your phone and a new date on your computer both stay.

How do I export everything?

Settings → Data and privacy → Export my data makes one file (JSON) of everything in your account, straight from this device, so it works offline too. In a browser it downloads; in the Android app you choose where to save or send it. A single note can also be saved on its own, from Export at the top of the note.

What does signing out do?

More (⋯) on the home screen → Sign out removes your things from this device; they stay safe in your account, ready for your next sign-in. If changes are still waiting to upload, Snod asks first.

A device that hasn’t used Snod for six months is signed out, but keeps everything on it. Sign in again with the same email and anything that was waiting uploads.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Data and privacy → Delete account (it’s under Account too). The page shows what will go, offers Export my data first, and deletes nothing until you type “delete”. Your account and everything in it go, on every device. It needs a connection, and it can’t be undone.

Can’t open Snod any more? Delete your Snod account explains how to ask by email, and what’s kept for how long.

Privacy in plain words

  • No adverts, no analytics and no tracking, and your data is never sold.
  • Only your account can read your things: the database itself refuses anyone else.
  • Your account and your synced things are kept by Scaleway, a European cloud provider, in Paris.
  • You never get a password: you sign in with a one-time code or with Google.
  • Feedback carries technical details only if you switch on Include technical details for that message.
